ITTF Pro Tour Polish Open - Bronze for Feng Tianwei and Ma Liang
South Korea's Park Mi Young performed a quite incredible comeback to end the hopes of 23 year old Feng Tianwei in the Semi Finals of the Women's Singles Event. Park trailed by three games to nil before mounting a revival that brought victory. Feng lost 9-11, 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-6, 11-7.

Earlier on in the Round of 16, Wang Yuegu and Sun Beibei both suffered defeats. Wang lost to the Chinese best defender Fan Ying, while Sun lost to a member of the South Korea, who learnt the art of attacking in China before going over shore - Seok Ha Jung. Meanwhile, Yu Meng Yu suffered 1st round defeat in the Women's Singles Event. She was ousted out by an European lady currently occupying the no.104 spot on the ITTF Women’s World Rankings and having almost bowed out in the group qualification stage - Ana-Marija Erdelji from Serbia. Once again, the reason that caused Yu to fail boils down to the fact that the Women's Team have not found the solution against defenders.

Gao Ning, the no.4 seed, had his aspirations quashed by Sweden’s Jens Lundqvist. The gap in ranking between Jens Lundqvist, world ranked no.55 as opposed to Gao Ning at no.26 is not that great and the Swede has arguably the most powerful forehand in the world. In Warsaw that forehand was in full flow as he defeated Gao Ning in five games; 11-9, 11-7, 12-10, 10-12, 11-9. Yang Zi and Ma Liang suffered 1st round defeats. Yang Zi lost in 5 games to Spain's Machado Carlos while Ma Liang was beaten by the higher ranked Russia's Kuzmin Fedor.

Our Men's and Women's Doubles suffered early round defeats as well. Top Seeds, Gao Ning/Yang Zi was defeated by South Korea's Kim Jung Hoon/Oh Sang Eun in straight games. Feng Tianwei/Wang Yuegu as well as Sun Beibei/Yu Mengyu were both ousted out by Chinese adversaries. Defensive Fan Ying/Wu Yang who progress to take the title beat Sun/Yu 4-1. Guo Yan/Wang Xuan defeated Feng Tianwei/Wang Yuegu in another 5 sets.

On a lighter note, Ma Liang reached the Semi Finals of the U21 Boys Singles Event, defeating notable opponents along the way - Lin Gaoyuan from China.
