SEA Games - Gold and Silver for Singapore!
Singapore's Gao Ning/Feng Tianwei as well as Yang Zi/Wang Yuegu emerge victorious to reach the Finals of the Mixed Doubles Event, thus securing the Gold and Silver Medal for Singapore.

Gao Ning/Feng Tianwei defeated teams from Philippines and Indonesia to reach the Semi Finals where they awaits Thailand's Phakpoom Sanguansin/Nanthana Komwong. Against Thailand, our paddlers made many unforced errors against their opponents in the 1st set, causing them to lose 10-12. However, that was the only set that the Thailand pair were able to take from the Singaporean duo. From the 2nd set onwards, Gao Ning/Feng Tianwei increased the speed of their game, and it was obvious that Thailand were not able to follow Singapore's pace. They faltered 11-6, 11-5, 11-3.

Not to be outdone by their counterparts, Yang Zi/Wang Yuegu did well to reach the Semi Finals as well, defeating players from Myanmar and Vietnam. In the Semi Finals, they faced Malaysia's Muhd Shakirin Ibrahim/Beh Lee Wei. In no time, our Singaporean duo establish a 2-0 lead, winning 11-5, 11-5. However in the 3rd set, just as the Singaporeans thought that victory was in their hands, the Malaysians struck a surprise, beating Yang Zi/Wang Yuegu 9-11. This did not affect Yang Zi/Wang Yuegu. In the 4th set, they did not let history repeats itself. They won by a convincing margin of 11-3!

Gao Ning/Feng Tianwei will face Yang Zi/Wang Yuegu tomorrow. There will be a live telecast on Channel 5.
