World Table Tennis Championships - Singapore Return Empty Handed
Singapore might have done their best by reaching the Quarter Finals of 3 events. However, the thought of returning home empty handed still aches many Singaporeans heart.

In the Women's Singles Event, Feng Tianwei lost 4-1 to China's second seed Guo Yue in the last eight of the women's singles.

The Republic was also eliminated in the last eight of the men's and women's doubles. The men's doubles pair of Gao Ning and Yang Zi lost 4-2 to Japan's Seiya Kishikawa and Jun Mizutani, while the women's doubles pairing of Feng and Wang Yuegu lost 4-2 to Hong Kong's Jiang Huajun and Tie Yana.

But team manager Eddy Tay said the team's overall performance at the World Championship was a positive one. "Overall, I would say it's a positive performance. At past world championships, we were eliminated in very early on. This time, we reached the last eight in three events. Local-born players like (Pang) Xuejie and Zena (Sim) also made it into the main draw."
