World Table Tennis Championships - Sports School Paddlers Did Not Disappoint
Several very talented and promising youths of the World have emerged. They include Host Nation's 14 year old Koki Niwa, New Zealand's Kevin Wu as well as United States' 12 year old Lily Zhang and 13 year old Ariel Hsing. Not to be outdone, Sports School Students Pang Xue Jie and Li Siyun Isabelle put up an amazing performance on the first day of the competition.

Taking on an opponent from Honduras whose World Ranking is lower than himself, Pang Xue Jie showed no mercy. In four straight games, he delivered in the group stage of the Men's Singles Event. Pang defeated Herrera Osvaldo with a convincing margin of 11-9, 11-5. 11-7, 11-3.

Meanwhile, the defensive skills of Isabelle proved too strong for her opponent to break through. She had an easy time against Fayazian Anna from Ireland. This young lady preparing for the ASIAN Youth Games in June showed sheer determination through out the game and her efforts finally paid off with a 4-1 victory. She won 11-6, 11-9, 11-1, 11-6. Li's compatriot and Sports School Graduate Sim Kai Xin Zena received a walkover Qvist Ulrika.

The Singles matches for the qualification stage will continue tomorrow. Pang Xue Jie will be taking on Parapanov Konstantin at 0945 (Singapore Time) while Sim Kai Xin Zena and Li Siyun Isabelle will be playing at 1200 hours (Singapore Time) in their final group match.
