ASIAN Junior Table Tennis Championships - Junior Girls' Team Faltered In Group Stage
Singapore's U18 Junior Girls' Team failed to advance further in the group stage yesterday after losing to Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei. However, our youth paddlers did well in other events. In the Junior Boys' Team Event, the upset Hong Kong by the narrowest margin of 3-2 to earn themselves a place in the Quarter Finals. Our Cadet Boys' Team was also the underdogs against Sri Lanka, but they did exceptionally well to crash them 3-0! Meanwhile, the Cadet Girls' Team advanced to the quarter finals but was tested by Thailand B Team.

Singapore's Junior Boys' Team will take on Top Seed China in the Quarter Finals. The Junior Girls' Team will continue playing in the second stage to determine their position (9t to 12th). They are scheduled to meet Kazakhstan. The Cadet Boys' and Girls' Team will be challenged by Chinese Taipei and Thailand respectively.

ITTF Pro Tour Japan Open - 4th Tittle for Wang Yuegu

Singapore's Wang Yuegu won her 4th Pro Tour Singles Title today at the 2010 Japan Pro Tour Circuit, defeating 15 year old Chinese dark horse Zhu Yuling in the Finals. Wang captured her first Pro Tour Title in Japan in 2006. Since then, she won in the German Open and Brazil Open in 2006 and 2008 respectively.

Enrouting to the Finals, Wang defeated Austria's Li Qiangbing, Turkey's Hu Melek, host nation's Ishikawa Kasumi and the World's best defender - South Korea's Kim Kyung Ah. Zhu Yuling who is ranked 105 in the World beat Japan's Hirano Sayaka, Fukuhara Ai, Hungary's Toth Kristina and South Korea's Park Mi Young.

Up against someone who is her age, the 30-year-old Singaporean hardly broke a sweat. Wang showed no mercy to the recent crowned ITTF Junior Circuit Champion. She cruised to a 4-0 (11-7,17-15,11-6,11-1) victory in less than 30 minutes.

Other Singaporean players that took part in the event includes Yu Meng Yu, Li Jiawei and Sun Beibei. Yu crashed out in the opening round against Chinese Taipei's Cheng I-Ching. Li and Sun lost to Kim Kyung Ah in the round of 16 and quarter finals respectively.
