World Team Cup - China Crashed Singapore 3-0
As expected, China retained the women's World Cup Team crown in Austria on Sunday, cruising 3-0 past Singapore. There was no stopping the defending champions as Ding Ning first picked off Feng Tianwei 3-1 before compatriot Guo Yue, despite facing some resistance, put away the Republic's Yu Meng Yu in straight sets in the second singles.

Some consolation came Singapore's way in the doubles when Wang Yue Gu and Yu pulled a game back after trailing 2-0 in the set against Li Xiaoxia and Ding Ning. The Chinese pair were caught napping and were duly punished 11-2, but returned to wrap up the set 11-6 and hand China victory.

It was the second straight meeting for the two countries in the final of the competition, following China's 3-1 triumph in Guangzhou last year.

Speaking from Austria, coach Jing Junhong said: "China are always difficult to beat, but this time we went in without fearing them. I think the Chinese were luckier, and in my estimation, we have closed the gap by between 10 and 20 per cent."

Results (China first):
Ding Ning beat Feng Tianwei 9-11, 12-11, 11-5, 11-8
Guo Yue beat Yu Meng Yu 13-11, 11-6, 11-9
Li Xiaoxia/Ding Ning beat Wang Yue Gu/Yu Meng Yu 11-7, 11-6, 2-11, 11-6
