ITTF Pro Tour Indian Open - Best Performance Ever for our Male Paddlers!
Our Male Paddlers enjoyed their best moments at the Indian Open, clinching all of the Top 4 places in the Men's Singles Event. Four of them entered the arena at the start of proceedings; four of them remained at the conclusion. Yu Meng Yu added on to the happiness as the only Singaporean Paddler in the Semi-Finals of the Women's Singles. All of our Doubles did us proud by qualifying in the Finals.

In the Round of 16, Top Seeded, Gao Ning ended the progress of India’s 15 year old qualifier, Soumyajit Ghosh whilst Yang Zi, seeded no.2, defeated Amalraj Aruputharaj Anthony, also from India. Gao Ning won 11-6, 13-11, 11-4, 11-7. Yang Zi won in straight games as well, 11-8, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8. In similar vein, Ma Liang, seeded no.4, was in form; he accounted for qualifier Mohammad Bayrampour Arallo of Iran, winning 11-5, 11-9, 11-8, 13-11. Cai Xiao Li, seeded no.5, defeated India’s Kumar Jubin. Cai Xiao Li won 11-4, 11-8, 7-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-5

The Male Paddlers continued their form in the Quarter Finals. Gao Ning defeated Akhlaghpasand Mohammadreza while Yang Zi had revenge for Pang Xue Jie against Tse Ka Chun of Hong Kong. Both matches ended in straight games. Ma Liang and Cai Xiao Li showed no mercy either. Ma Liang defeated Iranian Bayrampour Arallo Mohammad in straight games and Ahadi Mehran faltered against the experienced Cai Xiao Li.

Our Male Paddlers continue to dominate the Doubles and U21 Events. Gao Ning/Yang Zi emerge victory against their opponents. However, Cai Xiao Li and Pang Xue Jie faltered against Achanta Sharath Kamal/Saha Subhajit. They will be facing one another tomorrow in the Finals. In addition, Ma Liang won the Gold Medal in the U21 Event after an easy win over Ghosh Soumyajit. Ghosh has ousted out Pang Xue Jie in the Semi-Finals.

All the Men's Singles Matches tomorrow will be a internal affair as well. Gao Ning will take on Cai Xiao Li while Yang Zi will face Ma Liang.

In the Women's Singles Event, teenager Yu Meng Yu swept aside Host Nation's Das Mouma. She won in a convincing style, 11-7, 11-9, 11-7, 11-5. She will be taking on Malaysian and 3rd Seeded, Ng Sock Khim. Ng had defeated Li Jiawei in the SEA Games 2 years back.

Yu Meng Yu also partnered Sim Kai Xin Zena into the Semi-Finals of the Women's Doubles Event. However, they lost to India's Das Mouma/Ghatak Poulomi and settled for a Bronze.
