Kroppach suffers hard blow
Hard blow for FSV Kroppach, the main 2008-2009 Women's ECL favourite teams, on Round 2 matches (Group A). Linz Froschberg confirmed how their competitiveness and ambitions are extremely higher this season achieving an undisputable 3:1 home win. After the good feedbacks given in the home debut vs,. Mirandela, the Austrian proved their strong personality leading the whole match without any hesitation. Once more "Susi" Liu Jia was absolutely decisive opening the match with a sharp 3:0 against Wu Jiaduo and then getting the decisive point vs. Wang Yue Gu with the same score. Previously, the same Wang Yue Gu had scored the temporary tie defeating 3:2 Zhu Hong, whilst Li Qianbing had brought Linza ahead overcoming Toth Krsztina, the sole European in the match, 3:1.

乒超帮助球员适应无机胶水 李佳薇吴尚垠将加盟
2008年中国乒乓球俱乐部超级联赛即将于10月4日开拍。本赛季乒超联赛，包括了除王楠以外的所有国家队现役奥运冠军。
本赛季比赛将从10月4日开始至12月14日结束，分两个阶段进行。其中，在10月4日至11月8日间进行主客场的单循环比赛，从12月3日至12月14日，通过淘汰赛决出男女团体的一至六名。本赛季有11名来自韩国、新加坡等其他乒协的注册运动员，这其中就包括了李佳薇、吴尚垠等高水平选手。
据乒羽中心主任刘凤岩介绍，在今年的乒超联赛中，中国乒协将严格执行国际乒联有关“无机胶水”的使用规定，将联赛作为运动员的一个锻炼平台，帮助他们更早地适应这一新规定。乒协还就此制定了球拍水溶性胶水检测办法，团体比赛第一场开始前30分钟，将对全部出场的运动员球拍进行统一的正式检测。 （来源：沈阳日报 作者：丁瑶瑶）

男乒世界杯开始小组赛第一，二轮的争夺。高宁的状态还是一直处于低迷，让北京奥运会上表现不俗的尼日利亚选手托里奥拉以 8-11、11-4、10-12、11-6、11-8、9-11、11-5爆冷击败主力球员高宁，为晋级第二阶段创造了有利条件。德国名将波尔则以4-1战胜他。 第一局比赛开始后波尔就先取得4-2的领先，接下来波尔连续主动进攻得分，取得9-3的巨大领先优势。但高宁随后非常顽强地将比分追成10-10，波尔关键时刻连续发力，以12-10先下一城。 第二局波尔开局就取得5-1的领先，但高宁随后就将比分追成5-6。随后波尔以10-6获得局点，并以11-7再次取胜。第三局开始后，波尔先是以6-1领先，随后高宁在猛追之下，以10-9先获得局点，并以11-9艰难扳回一局。 第四局波尔先是在中局阶段取得7-4的领先，随后波尔就以10-5获得局点，并以11-7将局分扩大到3-1。第五局波尔完全控制住了局面，他在开局取得3-1领先后，就没有给高宁任何机会，波尔最终以11-4将局分锁定为4-1。

No Happy Returns for Gao Ning
 Gao Ning's poor form continued after being ousted out in the 3rd round of the Beijing Olympics. Nigeria's Segun Toriola; in the closest contest in the first session of play, the African champion secured a seven games win over Gao Ning. Gao Ning lost 8-11, 11-4, 10-12, 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-5, despite the fact that Segun Toriola did not have a coach. In the 2nd group match against World No.5 Boll Timo, Gao Ning faltered once again. The German star controlled matters. In a thoroughly professional manner defeated Gao Ning in five games, 12-10, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 11-4.

乒超联赛比肩NBA国际化 海外兵团五大高手集体加盟
2008年中国乒乓球俱乐部超级联赛即将在十一黄金周期间拉开战幕。9月25日，国家体育总局乒羽中心主任刘凤岩在接受记者采访时表示，为提高乒超联赛的国际化程度，早日实现将乒超打造成“乒乓球NBA”的目标，乒超联赛在吸引高水平外援参赛的同时，有望接纳整支国外优秀俱乐部参加比赛。
在上个赛季，乒超联赛没有引进任何外援。刘凤岩说：“考虑到整个赛季的稳定性，我们原来想学习一下德国俱乐部的做法，不能参加整个赛季的运动员就不能来。现在看来这样的规定可能限制太大了，有些队员想来也来不了。如果我们的着力点是打造国际品牌的话，没有一些国际上的优秀运动员参加，乒超联赛就很难实现这个理想，今年我们就放宽了尺度，不管你能不能参加整个赛季的比赛，各个俱乐部都可以招外援，但必须提前注册，赛中就不能再注册了。”
截至目前，本赛季乒超联赛的注册工作已经全部结束，除了71名在中国乒乓球协会注册的运动员，还有11名来自韩国、新加坡、日本和中国香港的选手。其中5名女子海外球员简直就是海外兵团中实力最强的五大高手，分别是新加坡的李佳薇和冯天薇、中国香港的帖雅娜和姜华珺、韩国的唐娜。尽管外援的参赛条件有所放松，不过并没有欧洲选手参加今年的乒超联赛。“今年欧洲选手来不了有几个原因。有些老运动员在参加了奥运会之后感觉比较累，很快就进入乒超联赛，可能适应不了。另外欧洲俱乐部在这个时间段也有比赛，他们也有限制，打了欧洲的比赛就来不了中国了。”
在乒超联赛国际化的问题上，此前中国乒协在中国公开赛期间与国际乒联主席沙拉拉进行过沟通。刘凤岩说：“沙拉拉认为从国际乒联的角度来看，今后对中国的乒超联赛要给予大力的合作和支持，他也希望欧洲的优秀选手、甚至是优秀的整支俱乐部队能够参加中国乒乓球超级联赛。对于他的这个设想，实际上我们自己原来也想到过。”
双方的不谋而合无疑使乒超国际化的前景更加光明。刘凤岩说：“我们也希望逐步加大联赛的开放力度，吸引其他协会的优秀运动员和俱乐部加入。在现在的俱乐部数量暂时不变的情况下，将来可能经过欧洲乒联的允许和国际乒联的推荐，欧洲某一支优秀的俱乐部会加入到我们的乒超联赛中来。亚洲其他协会有些好的俱乐部也能参加，这都在我们的考虑当中。这样既有整支优秀俱乐部参加，也有优秀运动员以个人身份加盟，乒超联赛的国际化程度自然就会提高到一个新的层次，从而能够更早地实现将乒超联赛打造成乒乓球NBA的目标。”

Linz AG-Froschberg - FSV Kroppach
Tonight's biggest matchup of this group will prove decisive for the rankings. The winner of the match will hardly fail to enter the semifinal. Last year's finalists and title candidates FSV Kroppach are the slight favourites even in the away game. But Froschberg's former European champion Liu Jia and rookie Zhu Hong will not be easy opponents. Zhu Hong played for Kroppach last season and knows her former colleagues very well. Froschberg manager Günther Renner stays realistic: "FSV Kroppach is the title favourite for me, but that doesn't mean that we don't have a chance at home. The guests are under pressure in this match, not us. They have the world's number 7 with Wang Yue Gu but if our Li Qiangbing is fit again our chances go up."

ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open - Bronze for Cadet Boys' Team
Pang Xue Jie and Chew Zhe Yu Clarence defeated South Korea Team 1 in the final hurdle to clinch Bronze. Earlier in the Semi-Finals, both of them lost to South Korea Team 2, with a slight margin of 3-2. Korea Team 1In the first match, Pang defeated Korean Teenager Lee Seung Yeop in a intense 5 game duel, however, Choi Deok Hwa levelled the score by overcoming Clarence by the same margin. In the doubles match, Xue Jie and Clarence were no match for Lee Seung Yeop and Choi Deok Hwa. Pang Xue Jie once again won another point for Singapore by beating Choi Deok Hwa in straight games. But Clarence was unable to withold the pressure. He faltered against Lee Seung Yeop. Korea Team 2Against Korea Team 2, our young boys held the upper hand. Xue Jie took the first point by ousting out Lee Hyeon Seok, 3-1. Clarence then lost the next point to Cho Jae Jun after stretching the game to the full 5 set distance. Our boys managed to maintain their poise and clinch the next 2 points from doubles Park Sang Min/Cho Jae Jun and singles against Cho Jae Jun. Our paddlers did well by bringing back a total of 2 Gold and 1 Bronze!

ETTU Women's European Champions League
 Wang Yue Gu is currently representing FSV Kroppach 1919 e.V. club in Germany to compete in the ETTU Women's European Champions League. The team inculdes Germany's Top female paddler Wu Jia Duo and Struse Nicole. In the Group A round 1, defeating 3:1 strong Italian Sandonatese team. Wang Yue Gu made Elizabeta SAMARA feel the hard ECL law (3:0), as well as Wu Jiaduo did vs. Qi Rong (3:1). Just Dodean Daniela had the chance to reopen the match after an exciting duel against Struse Nicole. Romanian youthfulness prevailed although it was a vain attempt, since Wang didn't leave Qi Rong any chance to get the tie. She prevailed 3-1. Brief History of the ClubThis top club of German womens' table tennis is practically the sub-club of a football club. Competing since 1919, the club created a table tennis section in 1984, and excellent youth training made sure of a constant upward development. In 1995 the club began an amazing ascendance. The club marched through 7 divisions in a row, entered the national top class, 1st Bundesliga, and in its first year attained the title of vice champion. In their only 2nd year in the German Bundesliga in 2002 they became German champions and went on to be vice champions in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2008 the club became German champion for the 2nd time and sets the tone in it's national association.

China Table Tennis Super League
(English Version of Ping Chao Lian Sai as requested) Paddlers Li Jia Wei, Feng Tian Wei and Yang Zi will be taking part in the China Table Tennis Super League in the coming October. The China Table Tennis Super League consists of only the Men's Women's Team Event. It is considered the top-notch competition due to its high standard of play. The members of the China National Team is in a league of their own! In addition to Beijing Olympic Gold Medalists Zhang Yining, Guo Yue, Wang Hao, Ma Lin and Wang Liqin, the rest of the Chinese National Team such as Chen Qi, Ma Long, Zhang Jike, Hao Shuai, Hou Yingchao, Li Xiaoxia, Guo Yan, Niu Jianfeng, Liu Shiwen, Ding Ning will be taking part. World Class players such as Hong Kong’s Tie Yana, Lin Ling, Li Ching, Tang Peng, Japan’s Fukuhara Ai, Mizutani Jun, Korea’s Oh Sang Eun and Germany’s Boll Timo has all took part in this event before. Besides our paddlers, Singapore Coaches Liu Guo Dong and Chen Jian will also be leading their teams in the league. Liu will be leading the Men’s Team of Ning Bo Bei Lun Hai Tian, which includes Ma Long, Li Hu and Korea’s Oh Sang Eun. Whilst Chen Jian will be heading Jian Shang Ying Hang, which consist of Singaporean paddler Yang Zi, Ma Lin, Zhang Chao and Japan’s Mizutani Jun. Li Jia Wei, together with Chen Qing and Liu Chun, will be representing Bei Da Fang Zheng (Beijing University), while Feng Tian Wei will be representing Lu Neng Lu An Ji Tuan. Women’s World Cup Champion Li Xiaoxia, Li Nan and Peng Luyang will be Feng’s teammates. Competition will start on the 4th October 2008. Stay Tuned for more Updates!

中国乒乓球俱乐部超级联赛是由中国乒乓球协会与中央电视台联合主办的精品赛事，每年举行一届，比赛项目：男子团体、女子团体。这是中国最大型，也是超水平的联赛。 因为几乎中国国家队的每一个选手都具备了击败任何一个世界好手的实力。除了中国奥运男女团队冠军，张怡宁、郭跃、马林、王皓、王力勤以外，中国一队的主力球员也都参加这项比赛。他们包括了陈 玘、马龙、郝帅、张继科、邱贻可、许昕、李晓霞、郭炎、牛剑锋、彭陆洋、刘诗雯、丁宁等等。世界如顶尖球员如香港选手李静、高礼泽、唐鹏、帖亚娜、林菱、张瑞、姜华珺，日本名将福原爱、水谷凖，韩国的吴尚垠、柳承敏以及欧美国家的萨姆索诺夫和波尔都增参加过这个联赛。这个联赛对李佳薇、冯天薇和杨子都是非常好的训练。

ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open - Xue Jie add to Singapore's Gold Medal Tally
 Singapore's fifteen year old Pang Xue Jie won the Cadet Boys' Singles title at the Taiyuan Junior Open on Thursday 18th September 2008, beating China's Liu Chang, Egypt's Omar Bedir and Korea's Noh Je Min en route to a final encounter with a second Korean, Cho Jae Jun. In the gold medal match, Pang Xue Jie prevailed in five games to collect his third career Cadet Boys' Singles title on the ITTF Junior Circuit. In 2007 he won in Bahrain and Doha. Pang Xue Jie defeated Cho Jae Jun 18-16, 13-11, 5-11, 13-11, 11-6.
The match was a contest between two exciting young prospects in the world of table tennis, both left handed, both athletic and both noisy! They encouraged themselves verbally between every point. Two young men giving one hundred per cent effort, total commitment; committed to the very end, it was not a heavyweight contest, more lightweight, speed a quick reactions to the fore.
The victor Pang Xue Jie is one of the most well mannered and respectful young men you could ever wish to meet. He is modest in victory, magnanimous in defeat. Tough Finals or sure the toughest match was the finals, said Pang Xue Jie. It was the first time I had ever played Cho Jae Jun but I have seen him play before; I knew how he played. No doubt he did, he played in a very similar fashion to Xue Jie! "I think the main reason I won today was that my service and first attack was good" continued Pang Xue Jie. His biggest problem was returning his services; his services were good, difficult to read. Pang Xue Jie coped with the situation but the crucial factor in the contest was that he won the close games. "I won the first, second and fourth games by only two points" he explained. explainning those three games so closely made all the difference. Victory for Pang Xue Jie who had not gone through the whole tournament without his problems; in the group stage, one day earlier, he had lost to Lee Seung Yeop of Korea and only progressed to the main draw on games ratio. He was within a whisker of not even qualifying for the second stage! It was a good day for Coach Cui Wei. Like Isabelle Li, who some twenty minutes earlier had won the Cadet Girls' Singles crown, Pang Xue Jie attends the Singapore Sports School and is coached by Cui Wei. It was a good day in Taiyuan for Singapore and both victors, who spoke English fluently, showed themselves to be fine athletes, fine adverts for Singapore, fine adverts for table tennis.

ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open - Isabelle Win Gold!
 Isabelle Li Siyun maintained a cool and calm approach to win the Cadet Girls' Singles title. Throughout the game, she remained resolute, no unnecessary displays of emotion, just a totally focused well mannered attitude. She beat Hong Kong's Li Ching Wan in five games to arrest the title.
Isabelle Li won 11-9, 9-11, 11-2, 11-4, 11-5.
The fourteen years old, Isabelle Li is a defensive player; she is neat and compact, moves well and is prepared to attack with her forehand when the occasion arises. The basis is there for a player to develop in the mode of China's Fan Ying; a defensive player with a wide range of services and a rocket propelled first forehand attack.
In the opening round she overcame Hong Kong's Ng La Ke before securing victory in a hard fought penultimate round duel against Korea's Youn Ji Young.
Certainly, that was the most difficult match in the whole tournament, she's a backspin player like me so it was really hard, said Isabelle Li in a very quiet tone of voice, befitting someone who remains calm.
Slaying defenders you have to be patient, I was patient today and I think my attack was slightly better, continued Isabelle Li. In the final I felt confident, I had played Li Chan Wan before and won; that was during July in Singapore at the Asian Junior Championships.
Technically Isabelle Li is very correct but it is her mental stability that shines through. My head was clear today, she concluded; certainly that was most apparent. She has a stoic character, there could be a revolution taking place and Isabelle Li would not be moved.
A fine effort by the young lady from Hong Kong but against Isabelle Li she met her match. Gold was in the hands of the young lady who attends the Singapore Sports School and is coached by Cui Wei; the name is Isabelle Li, the 2008 Taiyuan Junior Open Cadet Girls' Singles champion.

李佳薇将代表北大方正。与她代表同一个协会的有怪球手陈 晴，刘 纯和高曦。冯天薇则将与李晓霞，李楠和彭陆洋代表鲁能·潞安集团。
杨子是新加坡的唯一男选手。他将与奥运冠军马琳，张超，魏炎涛和来自日本的水谷凖。而他们的团队教练是新加坡男队教练陈健。
联赛将于十月开始举行。届时，我国女队主教练刘国栋也将率领宁波北仑海天男队参赛。

ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open - Youth Paddlers given more international opportunities
 Singapore Sports School will be sending a 4 person contigent to China to take part in the ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open. Pang Xue Jie, Chew Zhe Yu Clarence, Sim Kai Xin Zena and Li Siyun Isabelle will have the honour of donning the Nation's colours. However, they will be facing strong competition from China, Hong Kong, Korea and Chinese Taipei. China will be fielding a 25 paddlers, which includes last year's Junior Boys' Singles Champion Wang Yang. Compeition will start from 17th-21st September 2008.

ITTF Pro Tour China Panasonic Open - Sun Bei Bei clinched Bronze in Women's Doubles!
 With the absence of Singapore's Top 2 female paddlers, Li Jia Wei and Wang Yue Gu, our team did not perform as expected. Feng Tianwei lost to World No. 22, China's defender Fan Ying 4-1, whilst for Sun Bei Bei, she lost to the newly crowned Women's World Cup Silver Medalist Hong Kong's Tie Yana 4-2. Yu Meng Yu was no match against China's Liu Shiwen. She lost 4-1. Meanwhile, the male counterparts suffered defeats as well. Yang Zi lost to Korea's defender JOO Se Hyuk, while Ma Liang was defeated by Ma Long from China, 4-0. On a happier note, Doubles Pair Sun Bei Bei and Netherland's Li Jie were awarded the Bronze Medal after losing to Top Seeded, China's Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia. In the Quarter Finals, they beat Chinese Taipei's Huang Yi-Hua and Lu Yun-Feng 4-0. Our paddlers will be returning back and celebrate their Olympic success at the Singapore Flyer on Wednesday (17/9/08)!

ITTF Pro Tour China Panasonic Open - Gao Ning ousted out in first round
 There was an upset for Singapore's top male paddler Gao Ning. The world No. 12, playing for the first time since he was without a coach at the Olympics, had to endure more misery as he went 1-4 down 5-11, 13-15, 10-12, 11-9, 10-12 to Japan's world No 215 Takanori Shimoyama. Liu Zhongze and Cai Xiaoli also joined the list of casualties after losing to China's Hao Shuai 4-0 and South Korea's Joo Se Hyuk 4-3.
However, for Ma Liang and Yang Zi, there were better news. Ma Liang defeated South Korea's Jeong Sang Eun 4-1, and Yang Zi accounted for Japan's Kazuhiro Chan by the same margin.
There were no surprises for the female counterparts. Feng Tianwei, the 6th seeded, thrashed South Korean qualifier Park Young Sook 11-3, 11-5, 15-13, 11-5 to book a place in the last 16. Whilst for Sun Bei Bei, she defeated Japan's An Konishi 11-8, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-2. Yu Meng Yu did well to ovecome South Korea's Seok Ha Jung 11-6, 11-5, 9-11, 13-11, 6-11, 11-9.
Similarly, in the Doubles Events, our paddlers were at the wrong end of a shock result. Seeded 4th, Gao Ning and Yang Zi lost their opening round duel against the Japanese pairing of Yosuke Kawashima and Kunuhito Tasaei. Ma Liang and Liu Zhong Ze faltered against China's Ma Long and Xu Xin. Cai Xiao Li paired with Chinese Taipei's Chen Chien An and were overcae by Soth Korea's Kim Jung Hoon and Lim Jae Hyun.
The female paddlers did badly as well. Feng Tianwei and Yu Meng Yu suffered under the bats of Ding Ning and Liu Shiwen from China. The only pair that managed to advanced were Sun Bei Bei and Netherland's Li Jie. They beat South Korea's Choi Jung Min and Choi Moon Young in straight games, carrying Singapore's only hope into the Quarter Finals.
In tomorrow's match, Yang Zi will meet South Korea's Joo Se Hyuk and Ma Liang will take on world No. 4, Ma Long from China. Sun Bei Bei will face the Women's World Cup Silver Medalist, Hong Kong's Tie Yana, while Feng Tianwei will take on defender Fan Ying fro China. Yu Meng Yu will meet teenager China's Liu Shiwen.

Volkswagen Women's World Cup 2008 - Results!
 Feng Tian Wei managed to beat teammate Wang Yue Gu in the bronze medal match and cliche the 3rd placing, while Wang had to settle for 4th position. Despite Li Xiaoxia being the only China representaive in the Semi Finals, she mange to grab the Gold, beating Hong Kong's Tie Yana in the Finals. Tie Yana defeated Feng Tian Wei 4-0 in the Semi-Finals, whilst Yue Gu faltered against Xiaoxia by the same margin. However, Li Jia Wei as unable to adapt to the new bat. She lost to USA's Gao Jun and Tie Yana in the group stage. Volkswagen Women's World Cup 2008 - Draws
 Top seed in 2008 Women's World Cup in the Malaysian capital city is China's Guo Yue, the reigning world champion with colleague Li Xiaoxia, the player she beat in the Women's Singles final at the Liebherr World Championships in 2007, seeded two.
Singapore's Li Jia Wei, who gained fourth places in the Women's Singles event at the Beijing and Athens Olympic Games, is seeded three with compatriot, Wang Yue Gu, the winner at the Brazilian Open earlier in the year, seeded four.
Group A
In the group stage Guo Yue faces strong opposition from Hong Kong's Jiang Huajun and the Dominican Republic's Wu Xue; the former a player with arguably the most powerful backhand in female table tennis, the latter a Women's Singles quarter-finalists at the Beijing Olympics. Yang Fen of Congo Brazzaville, the African champion, completes the group.
Group B
Strong opposition for Guo Yue and also for Li Xiaoxia; she confronts Singapore's Feng Tianwei, a player who impressed at the Olympics and has made a meteoric rise to table tennis stardom in the past twelve months. Also, in the group appear two continental champions who have experience and may well ask questions; the players being Li Jiao from the Netherlands, the European champion and Miao Miao from Australia, the Oceania champion.
Group C
Meanwhile, for both Li Jia Wei and Wang Yue Gu they can afford no lapses of concentration.
Li Jia Wei faces Hong Kong's talented Tie Yana plus the experienced Gao Jun of the United States and one of Europe's rising hopes, Hungary's Georgina Pota.
Gao Jun penhold grip play has caused Jiawei many problems in recent years. Li lost to Gao twice earlier this year at the Croatia Open and China Open.
Group D
Similarly there are testing opponents for Wang Yue Gu. She confronts the defensive skills of Korea's Kim Kyung Ah, the replacement for Zhang Yining plus Romania's determined Daniela Dodean and the representative from Malaysia, Beh Lee Wei.

Volkswagen Women's World Cup 2008 - Olympic Silver Medalist charge into Kuala Lumpur!
 Olympic Silver Medalist - Li Jiawei, Wang Yuegu and Feng Tianwei will be donning the Nation's colours once again at this weekend's Volkswagen Women's World Cup. This year, the World Cup will be held in our neighbouring country Malaysia.
Our paddlers will pit their skills against the World Top 3 ranked players - Zhang Yining, Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia, all from China. There will also be many who learned their skills in China before going to foreign shores. Hong Kong's Tie Yana and Jiang Huajun, USA's Gao Jun, Australia's Miao Miao, Congo's Yang Fen, Netherlands' Li Jiao and Wu Xue from Dominican Republic are some of the examples.
This will be the first World Class tournament since the banning of Speed Glue. Many players are facing problems adapting to the new type of glue.

Kroppach suffers hard blow
Hard blow for FSV Kroppach, the main 2008-2009 Women's ECL favourite teams, on Round 2 matches (Group A). Linz Froschberg confirmed how their competitiveness and ambitions are extremely higher this season achieving an undisputable 3:1 home win. After the good feedbacks given in the home debut vs,. Mirandela, the Austrian proved their strong personality leading the whole match without any hesitation. Once more "Susi" Liu Jia was absolutely decisive opening the match with a sharp 3:0 against Wu Jiaduo and then getting the decisive point vs. Wang Yue Gu with the same score. Previously, the same Wang Yue Gu had scored the temporary tie defeating 3:2 Zhu Hong, whilst Li Qianbing had brought Linza ahead overcoming Toth Krsztina, the sole European in the match, 3:1.

乒超帮助球员适应无机胶水 李佳薇吴尚垠将加盟
2008年中国乒乓球俱乐部超级联赛即将于10月4日开拍。本赛季乒超联赛，包括了除王楠以外的所有国家队现役奥运冠军。
本赛季比赛将从10月4日开始至12月14日结束，分两个阶段进行。其中，在10月4日至11月8日间进行主客场的单循环比赛，从12月3日至12月14日，通过淘汰赛决出男女团体的一至六名。本赛季有11名来自韩国、新加坡等其他乒协的注册运动员，这其中就包括了李佳薇、吴尚垠等高水平选手。

No Happy Returns for Gao Ning
Gao Ning's poor form continued after being ousted out in the 3rd round of the Beijing Olympics. Nigeria's Segun Toriola; in the closest contest in the first session of play, the African champion secured a seven games win over Gao Ning. Gao Ning lost 8-11, 11-4, 10-12, 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-5, despite the fact that Segun Toriola did not have a coach. In the 2nd group match against World No.5 Boll Timo, Gao Ning faltered once again. The German star controlled matters. In a thoroughly professional manner defeated Gao Ning in five games, 12-10, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 11-4.

乒超联赛比肩NBA国际化 海外兵团五大高手集体加盟
2008年中国乒乓球俱乐部超级联赛即将在十一黄金周期间拉开战幕。9月25日，国家体育总局乒羽中心主任刘凤岩在接受记者采访时表示，为提高乒超联赛的国际化程度，早日实现将乒超打造成“乒乓球NBA”的目标，乒超联赛在吸引高水平外援参赛的同时，有望接纳整支国外优秀俱乐部参加比赛。
在上个赛季，乒超联赛没有引进任何外援。刘凤岩说：“考虑到整个赛季的稳定性，我们原来想学习一下德国俱乐部的做法，不能参加整个赛季的运动员就不能来。现在看来这样的规定可能限制太大了，有些队员想来也来不了。如果我们的着力点是打造国际品牌的话，没有一些国际上的优秀运动员参加，乒超联赛就很难实现这个理想，今年我们就放宽了尺度，不管你能不能参加整个赛季的比赛，各个俱乐部都可以招外援，但必须提前注册，赛中就不能再注册了。”
截至目前，本赛季乒超联赛的注册工作已经全部结束，除了71名在中国乒乓球协会注册的运动员，还有11名来自韩国、新加坡、日本和中国香港的选手。其中5名女子海外球员简直就是海外兵团中实力最强的五大高手，分别是新加坡的李佳薇和冯天薇、中国香港的帖雅娜和姜华珺、韩国的唐娜。尽管外援的参赛条件有所放松，不过并没有欧洲选手参加今年的乒超联赛。“今年欧洲选手来不了有几个原因。有些老运动员在参加了奥运会之后感觉比较累，很快就进入乒超联赛，可能适应不了。另外欧洲俱乐部在这个时间段也有比赛，他们也有限制，打了欧洲的比赛就来不了中国了。”
在乒超联赛国际化的问题上，此前中国乒协在中国公开赛期间与国际乒联主席沙拉拉进行过沟通。刘凤岩说：“沙拉拉认为从国际乒联的角度来看，今后对中国的乒超联赛要给予大力的合作和支持，他也希望欧洲的优秀选手、甚至是优秀的整支俱乐部队能够参加中国乒乓球超级联赛。对于他的这个设想，实际上我们自己原来也想到过。”
双方的不谋而合无疑使乒超国际化的前景更加光明。刘凤岩说：“我们也希望逐步加大联赛的开放力度，吸引其他协会的优秀运动员和俱乐部加入。在现在的俱乐部数量暂时不变的情况下，将来可能经过欧洲乒联的允许和国际乒联的推荐，欧洲某一支优秀的俱乐部会加入到我们的乒超联赛中来。亚洲其他协会有些好的俱乐部也能参加，这都在我们的考虑当中。这样既有整支优秀俱乐部参加，也有优秀运动员以个人身份加盟，乒超联赛的国际化程度自然就会提高到一个新的层次，从而能够更早地实现将乒超联赛打造成乒乓球NBA的目标。”

Tonight's biggest matchup of this group will prove decisive for the rankings. The winner of the match will hardly fail to enter the semifinal. Last year's finalists and title candidates FSV Kroppach are the slight favourites even in the away game. But Froschberg's former European champion Liu Jia and rookie Zhu Hong will not be easy opponents. Zhu Hong played for Kroppach last season and knows her former colleagues very well. Froschberg manager Günther Renner stays realistic: "FSV Kroppach is the title favourite for me, but that doesn't mean that we don't have a chance at home. The guests are under pressure in this match, not us. They have the world's number 7 with Wang Yue Gu but if our Li Qiangbing is fit again our chances go up."

ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open - Bronze for Cadet Boys' Team
Pang Xue Jie and Chew Zhe Yu Clarence defeated South Korea Team 1 in the final hurdle to clinch Bronze. Earlier in the Semi-Finals, both of them lost to South Korea Team 2, with a slight margin of 3-2. Korea Team 1In the first match, Pang defeated Korean Teenager Lee Seung Yeop in a intense 5 game duel, however, Choi Deok Hwa levelled the score by overcoming Clarence by the same margin. In the doubles match, Xue Jie and Clarence were no match for Lee Seung Yeop and Choi Deok Hwa. Pang Xue Jie once again won another point for Singapore by beating Choi Deok Hwa in straight games. But Clarence was unable to withold the pressure. He faltered against Lee Seung Yeop. Korea Team 2Against Korea Team 2, our young boys held the upper hand. Xue Jie took the first point by ousting out Lee Hyeon Seok, 3-1. Clarence then lost the next point to Cho Jae Jun after stretching the game to the full 5 set distance. Our boys managed to maintain their poise and clinch the next 2 points from doubles Park Sang Min/Cho Jae Jun and singles against Cho Jae Jun. Our paddlers did well by bringing back a total of 2 Gold and 1 Bronze!

ETTU Women's European Champions League
Wang Yue Gu is currently representing FSV Kroppach 1919 e.V. club in Germany to compete in the ETTU Women's European Champions League. The team inculdes Germany's Top female paddler Wu Jia Duo and Struse Nicole. In the Group A round 1, defeating 3:1 strong Italian Sandonatese team. Wang Yue Gu made Elizabeta SAMARA feel the hard ECL law (3:0), as well as Wu Jiaduo did vs. Qi Rong (3:1). Just Dodean Daniela had the chance to reopen the match after an exciting duel against Struse Nicole. Romanian youthfulness prevailed although it was a vain attempt, since Wang didn't leave Qi Rong any chance to get the tie. She prevailed 3-1. Brief History of the ClubThis top club of German womens' table tennis is practically the sub-club of a football club. Competing since 1919, the club created a table tennis section in 1984, and excellent youth training made sure of a constant upward development. In 1995 the club began an amazing ascendance. The club marched through 7 divisions in a row, entered the national top class, 1st Bundesliga, and in its first year attained the title of vice champion. In their only 2nd year in the German Bundesliga in 2002 they became German champions and went on to be vice champions in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2008 the club became German champion for the 2nd time and sets the tone in it's national association.

China Table Tennis Super League
(English Version of Ping Chao Lian Sai as requested) Paddlers Li Jia Wei, Feng Tian Wei and Yang Zi will be taking part in the China Table Tennis Super League in the coming October. The China Table Tennis Super League consists of only the Men's Women's Team Event. It is considered the top-notch competition due to its high standard of play. The members of the China National Team is in a league of their own! In addition to Beijing Olympic Gold Medalists Zhang Yining, Guo Yue, Wang Hao, Ma Lin and Wang Liqin, the rest of the Chinese National Team such as Chen Qi, Ma Long, Zhang Jike, Hao Shuai, Hou Yingchao, Li Xiaoxia, Guo Yan, Niu Jianfeng, Liu Shiwen, Ding Ning will be taking part. World Class players such as Hong Kong’s Tie Yana, Lin Ling, Li Ching, Tang Peng, Japan’s Fukuhara Ai, Mizutani Jun, Korea’s Oh Sang Eun and Germany’s Boll Timo has all took part in this event before. Besides our paddlers, Singapore Coaches Liu Guo Dong and Chen Jian will also be leading their teams in the league. Liu will be leading the Men’s Team of Ning Bo Bei Lun Hai Tian, which includes Ma Long, Li Hu and Korea’s Oh Sang Eun. Whilst Chen Jian will be heading Jian Shang Ying Hang, which consist of Singaporean paddler Yang Zi, Ma Lin, Zhang Chao and Japan’s Mizutani Jun. Li Jia Wei, together with Chen Qing and Liu Chun, will be representing Bei Da Fang Zheng (Beijing University), while Feng Tian Wei will be representing Lu Neng Lu An Ji Tuan. ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open - Xue Jie add to Singapore's Gold Medal Tally
Singapore's fifteen year old Pang Xue Jie won the Cadet Boys' Singles title at the Taiyuan Junior Open on Thursday 18th September 2008, beating China's Liu Chang, Egypt's Omar Bedir and Korea's Noh Je Min en route to a final encounter with a second Korean, Cho Jae Jun. In the gold medal match, Pang Xue Jie prevailed in five games to collect his third career Cadet Boys' Singles title on the ITTF Junior Circuit. In 2007 he won in Bahrain and Doha. Pang Xue Jie defeated Cho Jae Jun 18-16, 13-11, 5-11, 13-11, 11-6.
The match was a contest between two exciting young prospects in the world of table tennis, both left handed, both athletic and both noisy! They encouraged themselves verbally between every point. Two young men giving one hundred per cent effort, total commitment; committed to the very end, it was not a heavyweight contest, more lightweight, speed a quick reactions to the fore.
The victor Pang Xue Jie is one of the most well mannered and respectful young men you could ever wish to meet. He is modest in victory, magnanimous in defeat. Tough Finals or sure the toughest match was the finals, said Pang Xue Jie. It was the first time I had ever played Cho Jae Jun but I have seen him play before; I knew how he played. No doubt he did, he played in a very similar fashion to Xue Jie! "I think the main reason I won today was that my service and first attack was good" continued Pang Xue Jie. His biggest problem was returning his services; his services were good, difficult to read. Pang Xue Jie coped with the situation but the crucial factor in the contest was that he won the close games. "I won the first, second and fourth games by only two points" he explained. explainning those three games so closely made all the difference. Victory for Pang Xue Jie who had not gone through the whole tournament without his problems; in the group stage, one day earlier, he had lost to Lee Seung Yeop of Korea and only progressed to the main draw on games ratio. He was within a whisker of not even qualifying for the second stage! It was a good day for Coach Cui Wei. Like Isabelle Li, who some twenty minutes earlier had won the Cadet Girls' Singles crown, Pang Xue Jie attends the Singapore Sports School and is coached by Cui Wei. It was a good day in Taiyuan for Singapore and both victors, who spoke English fluently, showed themselves to be fine athletes, fine adverts for Singapore, fine adverts for table tennis.

ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open - Isabelle Win Gold!
Isabelle Li Siyun maintained a cool and calm approach to win the Cadet Girls' Singles title. Throughout the game, she remained resolute, no unnecessary displays of emotion, just a totally focused well mannered attitude. She beat Hong Kong's Li Ching Wan in five games to arrest the title.
Isabelle Li won 11-9, 9-11, 11-2, 11-4, 11-5.
The fourteen years old, Isabelle Li is a defensive player; she is neat and compact, moves well and is prepared to attack with her forehand when the occasion arises. The basis is there for a player to develop in the mode of China's Fan Ying; a defensive player with a wide range of services and a rocket propelled first forehand attack.
In the opening round she overcame Hong Kong's Ng La Ke before securing victory in a hard fought penultimate round duel against Korea's Youn Ji Young.
Certainly, that was the most difficult match in the whole tournament, she's a backspin player like me so it was really hard, said Isabelle Li in a very quiet tone of voice, befitting someone who remains calm.
Slaying defenders you have to be patient, I was patient today and I think my attack was slightly better, continued Isabelle Li. In the final I felt confident, I had played Li Chan Wan before and won; that was during July in Singapore at the Asian Junior Championships.
Technically Isabelle Li is very correct but it is her mental stability that shines through. My head was clear today, she concluded; certainly that was most apparent. She has a stoic character, there could be a revolution taking place and Isabelle Li would not be moved.
A fine effort by the young lady from Hong Kong but against Isabelle Li she met her match. Gold was in the hands of the young lady who attends the Singapore Sports School and is coached by Cui Wei; the name is Isabelle Li, the 2008 Taiyuan Junior Open Cadet Girls' Singles champion.

ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open - Youth Paddlers given more international opportunities
Singapore Sports School will be sending a 4 person contigent to China to take part in the ITTF Junior Circuit Taiyuan, China Open. Pang Xue Jie, Chew Zhe Yu Clarence, Sim Kai Xin Zena and Li Siyun Isabelle will have the honour of donning the Nation's colours. However, they will be facing strong competition from China, Hong Kong, Korea and Chinese Taipei. China will be fielding a 25 paddlers, which includes last year's Junior Boys' Singles Champion Wang Yang. Compeition will start from 17th-21st September 2008.

ITTF Pro Tour China Panasonic Open - Sun Bei Bei clinched Bronze in Women's Doubles!
With the absence of Singapore's Top 2 female paddlers, Li Jia Wei and Wang Yue Gu, our team did not perform as expected. Feng Tianwei lost to World No. 22, China's defender Fan Ying 4-1, whilst for Sun Bei Bei, she lost to the newly crowned Women's World Cup Silver Medalist Hong Kong's Tie Yana 4-2. Yu Meng Yu was no match against China's Liu Shiwen. She lost 4-1. Meanwhile, the male counterparts suffered defeats as well. Yang Zi lost to Korea's defender JOO Se Hyuk, while Ma Liang was defeated by Ma Long from China, 4-0. On a happier note, Doubles Pair Sun Bei Bei and Netherland's Li Jie were awarded the Bronze Medal after losing to Top Seeded, China's Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia. In the Quarter Finals, they beat Chinese Taipei's Huang Yi-Hua and Lu Yun-Feng 4-0. Our paddlers will be returning back and celebrate their Olympic success at the Singapore Flyer on Wednesday (17/9/08)!

ITTF Pro Tour China Panasonic Open - Gao Ning ousted out in first round
There was an upset for Singapore's top male paddler Gao Ning. The world No. 12, playing for the first time since he was without a coach at the Olympics, had to endure more misery as he went 1-4 down 5-11, 13-15, 10-12, 11-9, 10-12 to Japan's world No 215 Takanori Shimoyama. Liu Zhongze and Cai Xiaoli also joined the list of casualties after losing to China's Hao Shuai 4-0 and South Korea's Joo Se Hyuk 4-3.
However, for Ma Liang and Yang Zi, there were better news. Ma Liang defeated South Korea's Jeong Sang Eun 4-1, and Yang Zi accounted for Japan's Kazuhiro Chan by the same margin.
There were no surprises for the female counterparts. Feng Tianwei, the 6th seeded, thrashed South Korean qualifier Park Young Sook 11-3, 11-5, 15-13, 11-5 to book a place in the last 16. Whilst for Sun Bei Bei, she defeated Japan's An Konishi 11-8, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-2. Yu Meng Yu did well to ovecome South Korea's Seok Ha Jung 11-6, 11-5, 9-11, 13-11, 6-11, 11-9.
Similarly, in the Doubles Events, our paddlers were at the wrong end of a shock result. Seeded 4th, Gao Ning and Yang Zi lost their opening round duel against the Japanese pairing of Yosuke Kawashima and Kunuhito Tasaei. Ma Liang and Liu Zhong Ze faltered against China's Ma Long and Xu Xin. Cai Xiao Li paired with Chinese Taipei's Chen Chien An and were overcae by Soth Korea's Kim Jung Hoon and Lim Jae Hyun.
The female paddlers did badly as well. Feng Tianwei and Yu Meng Yu suffered under the bats of Ding Ning and Liu Shiwen from China. The only pair that managed to advanced were Sun Bei Bei and Netherland's Li Jie. They beat South Korea's Choi Jung Min and Choi Moon Young in straight games, carrying Singapore's only hope into the Quarter Finals.
In tomorrow's match, Yang Zi will meet South Korea's Joo Se Hyuk and Ma Liang will take on world No. 4, Ma Long from China. Sun Bei Bei will face the Women's World Cup Silver Medalist, Hong Kong's Tie Yana, while Feng Tianwei will take on defender Fan Ying fro China. Yu Meng Yu will meet teenager China's Liu Shiwen.

Volkswagen Women's World Cup 2008 - Results!
Feng Tian Wei managed to beat teammate Wang Yue Gu in the bronze medal match and cliche the 3rd placing, while Wang had to settle for 4th position. Despite Li Xiaoxia being the only China representaive in the Semi Finals, she mange to grab the Gold, beating Hong Kong's Tie Yana in the Finals. Tie Yana defeated Feng Tian Wei 4-0 in the Semi-Finals, whilst Yue Gu faltered against Xiaoxia by the same margin. However, Li Jia Wei as unable to adapt to the new bat. She lost to USA's Gao Jun and Tie Yana in the group stage. Volkswagen Women's World Cup 2008 - Draws
Top seed in 2008 Women's World Cup in the Malaysian capital city is China's Guo Yue, the reigning world champion with colleague Li Xiaoxia, the player she beat in the Women's Singles final at the Liebherr World Championships in 2007, seeded two.
Singapore's Li Jia Wei, who gained fourth places in the Women's Singles event at the Beijing and Athens Olympic Games, is seeded three with compatriot, Wang Yue Gu, the winner at the Brazilian Open earlier in the year, seeded four.
Group A
In the group stage Guo Yue faces strong opposition from Hong Kong's Jiang Huajun and the Dominican Republic's Wu Xue; the former a player with arguably the most powerful backhand in female table tennis, the latter a Women's Singles quarter-finalists at the Beijing Olympics. Yang Fen of Congo Brazzaville, the African champion, completes the group.
Group B
Strong opposition for Guo Yue and also for Li Xiaoxia; she confronts Singapore's Feng Tianwei, a player who impressed at the Olympics and has made a meteoric rise to table tennis stardom in the past twelve months. Also, in the group appear two continental champions who have experience and may well ask questions; the players being Li Jiao from the Netherlands, the European champion and Miao Miao from Australia, the Oceania champion.
Group C
Meanwhile, for both Li Jia Wei and Wang Yue Gu they can afford no lapses of concentration.
Li Jia Wei faces Hong Kong's talented Tie Yana plus the experienced Gao Jun of the United States and one of Europe's rising hopes, Hungary's Georgina Pota.
Gao Jun penhold grip play has caused Jiawei many problems in recent years. Li lost to Gao twice earlier this year at the Croatia Open and China Open.
Group D
Similarly there are testing opponents for Wang Yue Gu. She confronts the defensive skills of Korea's Kim Kyung Ah, the replacement for Zhang Yining plus Romania's determined Daniela Dodean and the representative from Malaysia, Beh Lee Wei.

Volkswagen Women's World Cup 2008 - Olympic Silver Medalist charge into Kuala Lumpur!
Olympic Silver Medalist - Li Jiawei, Wang Yuegu and Feng Tianwei will be donning the Nation's colours once again at this weekend's Volkswagen Women's World Cup. This year, the World Cup will be held in our neighbouring country Malaysia.
Our paddlers will pit their skills against the World Top 3 ranked players - Zhang Yining, Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia, all from China. There will also be many who learned their skills in China before going to foreign shores. Hong Kong's Tie Yana and Jiang Huajun, USA's Gao Jun, Australia's Miao Miao, Congo's Yang Fen, Netherlands' Li Jiao and Wu Xue from Dominican Republic are some of the examples.
This will be the first World Class tournament since the banning of Speed Glue. Many players are facing problems adapting to the new type of glue.
