Zhang Xueling's Departure
Singapore's Paddler Zhang Xueling will be leaving Team Singapore for China. The reason she gave was that her husband Zheng Qi has already returned to China and she had decided to join him in China, Shanghai. But it was largely believed that her departure was due to Singapore's New Paddler Wang Yue Gu who has just received her Singapore's Citizenship recently. Wang currently ranked 8th will be Singapore's 2nd highest ranked female paddler on the ITTF World Ranking. With the addition of Wang, together with Li Jia Wei & Sun Bei Bei who are ranked above Zhang, Zhang's chances of attending next year's Oylimpic Games will be affected, as only 3 paddlers will form a team to play in the Team Event and only 3 paddlers are allowed for the Singles Event per country.

The news shocked many of the Table Tennis Fans in Singapore, especially Xueling's fans. She was already included in Singapore's 0812 Oylimpic Plan, and by leaving Singapore now, she will missed the chance of participating in the Oylimpics next year. Zhang was in her top form when she clinched all 4 Gold Medals avaliable in the Commonwealth Games & SEA Games, beating Li Jia Wei twice.

Zhang promised to return to Singapore one day, if she were to be needed.
